I guess one could somehow say that I got lucky when my job in New York where I lived all my life, up until 1995, and as my plant had shut down that I made a choice to transfer here in West Virginia. Now most people wouldn't consider that luck to have to leave a job after 25 years of service there, but trust me when I say that I'm both lucky and blessed for this to have been the case as the environment, quality of life, and the people all proved to be an improvement for me. But one person in particular along with his family, being Doug Copenhaver Jr. has for me been a standout amongst the rest as being a first class person and true friend in every way with anyone that I have ever talked to that have had any dealings with him all mirror that image of him, whether it has been from building them a home as Doug is the president of Custom Contracting, Inc. or down to the most insignificant task, Doug is there to help and make it right. His perception and emphasis on quality are ones to be admired as he will always go the extra effort to not only make it right but to also do it to your complete satisfaction. I consider myself to be a very particular person and have always wanted a job done the right way without shortcuts along the way and that is precisely the way my custom home was built by Custom Contracting, Inc. in not only fulfilling my expectations but most times exceeding them. Doug & company come to you as not only a fine builder but as an upstanding individual as well. Thank you Doug Copenhaver Jr. and your dedicated crew at Custom Contracting, Inc.

Donna and I have been married for over 30 years and in that time have moved more than a dozen times. We were finally ready to find a place to retire and build our dream log house. We spent a lot of time researching locations, builders, and log home companies before deciding to work with Snowy River Log Homes and Custom Contracting, Inc. We had looked at a lot of interesting companies while researching but after a full day of talking with Doug and Jackie, we knew these were the people we wanted to build our retirement home.
The design process was challenging, educational, and fun all at the same time. We brought our own ideas to the table but greatly appreciated (and needed) the advice, insight, and knowledge from everyone we met to get our thoughts all the way to a completed design. Doug and his team took the time to get to know us and understand how we were approaching our project. They tailored their discussions to fit what was needed- pictures, documents, or even standing on a stool acting out how a loft floor joist would look using brooms and measuring tapes to give Donna the “real” feel of our design.
Just as importantly, we’ve met a number of Snowy River Log Homes and Custom Contracting, Inc. current and former customers who were universally pleased with the work that had been done for them. These customers weren’t just happy with the work, they all pointed to the integrity they saw and the conscientious attention they received throughout their projects. It’s easy for a company to give one or two positive references but we’ve talked with many others (including people we ran into in stores) who know Snowy River Log Homes and Custom Contracting, Inc. and even when they have nothing to gain, their words were always positive. We can’t say how many times we’ve been told “you’ll love working with those guys, Doug is always thinking one step ahead”.
We’re looking forward to completing the construction of our new home and continuing our relationship with Snowy River Log Homes and Custom Contracting, Inc.
